What Is My Topic?

My topic is on Raves the origins of raves and evolution of EDC. Raves started out as an underground movement, in Chicago of mid-late 1980's. Raves were created by a group of people who had the same taste in music. They wanted to dance to electronic dance music (EDM) and with the help of drugs like ecstasy and LSD, it gave the people an "enhanced state of consciousness," as said in History of Raves by Sara Simms. In the different clubs the laser lights created a magical moment that are still here today. 

Why Am I Interested in This Topic?

I am interested in the origin and evolution of raves because I love this music.(EDM) It has made such a big impact on my life of influencing me to start Dj ing and produce my own music. It has made me more optimistic about situations and of everyday life! I remember the first time I ever listened to electronic dance music, my mind just when crazy and my ears fell in love with the sound.
Everyday, I've always had a desire to listen to some sort of electronic dance music at any time of day, even if it's in the mornings, whether its melodic and relaxing or upbeat and fast. Everyday at school I always day dream of what it would be like if I could go up on stage in the booth and see the whole crowd dancing to my music just picturing how beautiful the view is. Every so often I would even get the chills, that's how bad I crave to see that view. I can honestly say that I love this music and I enjoy listening to it with my friends.

What I Hope to Learn from my Research?

I hope I will learn more about the EDM culture and how the festivals and other raves have evolved. I know it becoming more and more popular by the day, and I hope to further my knowledge about the EDM lifestyle.
